Amethyst

 Silicon oxide. It is the purple hue of the quartz mineral. The stone that prevents toxins from entering your body (deprivation α + μέθη, intoxication in Greek language). A special variety of quartz mineral is prasiolite or green amethyst, a mineral found in Brazil, especially popular among jewellery designers.

Brazil, Uruguay, Russia and the Korean Peninsula are the best-known countries for extracting amethyst quartz.

Ancient Greeks and Romans believed that amethyst protects against intoxication, either from wine or from toxic substances, and strengthens the will of its possessor. Tibetans believe that amethyst is Buddha's stone and make prayer bracelets with it.

Suitable for meditation, insight, strengthens self-confidence and brings calm and strength to those who wear it.

Many put it under their pillow to remember their dreams.

Corresponds to the Chakras of the Third Eye and the Peak.

It is the stone of February and Aquarius.
